The 127th Gillespie County Fair in Fredericksburg is finally here, with four days of family activities from Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 20-23.
Sponsored by the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, Inc., the celebration at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds will feature live pari-mutuel horse racing, carnival and midway, music and dancing, displays of agricultural and home products, livestock competitions, parade, queen’s contest, mutton busting, domino tournament, vendors, and more.
Thursday, Aug 20 - Carnival and Vendor booths 5 p.m., Ag and Home exhibit judging and Country Showdown 8:30 p.m.
Friday Aug 21 - Fair Parade downtown at 10 a.m., Gates open at 1 p.m., Mutton Bustin’ at 6 p.m.; signup at 5:30 p.m., Fair Queen Contest at 7 p.m., Jake Hooker from 8:30 to 12:30
Saturday, Aug 22 - Fair opens at 10 a.m., Carnival 1 p.m., Horse Races 1 p.m., Mutton Bustin’ 30 minutes after last horse race, Wade Bowen, with special guest Johnny Rodriguez, 8:30 to 12:30
Sunday, Aug 23 - Horse Races 1 p.m.
Throughout the weekend, the Exhibition Hall will be open with agricultural and home products displays. The Hill Country Antique Tractor and Engine Club will provide displays and demonstrations.
The Show Barn will host livestock judging will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
There is no admission charge to the grounds on Thursday night. However, there is a charge for the carnival and midway rides and activities.
School children, kids under 6, and senior citizens over 65 will be admitted free on Friday.
Adult general admission is $7 on Friday during the day, and $10 after 8 p.m.
General admission on Saturday and Sunday is $7 for adults, $3 for youth age 6 to 15, and free for children 5 and under.
Reserved seats for the races are $10 and box seats are $15.
After 6 p.m. on Saturday, admission is $15 for adults, $3 for children age 6 to 15, and free for children 5 and under.
Advance tickets for the Gillespie County Fair and related activities can be purchased online at Online tickets are priced the same as those sold at the gate, and can be purchased using credit or debit cards.
Additionally, all food and drink tickets can be purchased using automated machines throughout the fair grounds.

The Gillespie County Fair Grounds is located on Texas Highway 16 South, about two miles from Main Street.
