The search for dry ground to play the Area matchup between the Blanco Panthers and the East Bernard Brahmas forced the originally scheduled best 2 out of 3 game series to a single game clash with the Panthers falling 0-2.
On Friday the Panthers and Brahmas should have played their first game at Bastrop High School, but Thursday night rains changed those plans.

Thursday’s storm brought over one and a half inches of rain, and unfortunately some damaging hail.
Friday morning Blanco residents found themselves without power. PEC reported that, “At about 4:30 a.m. power was interrupted to 1,000 members in Blanco. Crews patrolled the lines looking for damage and were able to restore power to all but 140 members, including Blanco High School, at 7:40 a.m.

At Monday night’s meeting of the Blanco Independent School District trustees, the monthly spotlight featured an amazing array of accomplishments, both by students and staff. The Panthers swept the Luling Eagles 2-0 in a 2 out of 3 game series to win Bi-District.
On Friday, May 3rd the Panthers shut out the Eagles, 6-0. Layne Lassberg went 5 innings scattering 4 hits. Sam Isenberg pitched in relief to shut down Luling. Isenberg batted 2 for 3 with one RBI.

The Friends Annual Dinner and a Movie was wonderful! Thank you to all who made it such a success and for all of you who came to dine with us! Blanco Lions Club had the new officers for 2013-2014 installed at their regular meeting held May 2nd. The new officers are: Tom Davidson, new president, Les Kuneba, Zone Director, who conducted the installation, Lynn Evich, secretary, John Jones, treasurer, Jim Meadows, director, and Bob Dorsett, 2nd, vice president, Lawrence Mikes, 2nd vice president, Ben Copeland, outgoing president and now director, Marilyn Mikes, 1st vice president and Diane Hostetler, tail twister.

The Buggy Barn Museum hosted the Veteran Motor Car Club Of America on Friday, April, 26. The club’s 2013 Chrome Glidden Tour is exclusively for cars made between 1935-1988. The club tours all around the country, but this was a Hill Country adventure, with the last stop in Blanco. Dennis Moore and the Buggy Barn Museum Chuck Wagon Cooking provided the club with a hot meal on the cloudy day.

The Blanco girls varsity track team raced to a 2nd place team finish at the Region IV Track and Field Meet Saturday, April 28.
In field events Abby Beard placed 5th in high jump. Abbie Culton was 7th in the triple jump. Erica Flores and Monica Flores placed 8th and 9th respectively in pole vault.
In running events, Leslie McClinton placed 8th in the 200m dash.

The Panther baseball team defeated the Lago Vista Vikings 10-4 on Thursday, April 26. Josh McCaslin went the distance on the mound going 7 innings and scattering 6 hits and striking out 2. McCaslin also led the way with his bat going 2 for 4 with a homerun and 2 rbi.

Another year done and the annual Bands 4 Band Music Festival brought incredible musical talent to Yett Memorial Park in Blanco. Grupo Fantasma, Lannaya West African Drum & Dance Ensemble, The Jitterbug Vipers, Patrice Pike, Hunter Hendrickson, Allen Ray & Southern Comfort, and local favorites Bobby Mack and Zydeco Blanco provided the festival attendees with a wide variety of musical styles and experiences.

The Blanco FFA Chapter qualified four teams for state career development events hosted by Tarleton State University in Stephenville this past week. FFA members from Blanco competed in Homesite Evaluation, Environmental Natural Resources, Range and Pasture Judging and Land Evaluation. Blanco was the only school to have three different teams place in the top 10 overall.
In the Homesite CDE, Blanco placed 4th overall with Trey Hunter recognized as the 3rd high point individual.

The Panther baseball team had a rough night against the Comfort Bobcats on Tuesday, April 16, falling 1 to 7 in their first district loss. Comfort and Blanco now share the lead in the district race.
Josh McCaslin took the loss, going 6 and 1/3 innings, giving up 5 runs and scattering 8 hits.
