The Panther softball team tallied 3 district wins this past week trouncing the Ingram Lady Warriors, 16-1 on Tuesday, April 9, beating the Johnson City Eagles, 17-4 on Friday, April 12, and defeating the Comfort Deer on Monday, April 15, 4-2
Callie Culton pitched the 3-inning, 15-run rule victory over the Warriors tossing 3 strike-outs, giving up one hit.

Brad Farbstein and Gabriel Gregerman owners of Real Ale had their 17th anniversary party with 3000 of their closest friends, along with their daughter, Sadie. The newly canned Four Squared and Hans Pils beers were on hand along with the great music of La Tampiquena and others.

The wind may have nearly blown us out of the courthouse square on Saturday, but it did not dampen the high-spirits and fun in Blanco. Wild Women began converging on Blanco Friday night and continued on through Sunday all for the benefit of the Blanco Non-Profit Coalition.
Wild Woman Weekend, WWW, opened with a reception in the courthouse with delicious appetizers provided by Sullivan Street Caterers and wine provided by 4.0 Cellars.

Blanco County 4-H Lucky Leaf held their second annual dog show on March 9. Pancho and Joaquin Olmedo won first place Best in Show. Second place went to Sparky and Anna Olmedo. Ryan McGill and his pirate dog won third. Judges were Libby Meyers, Connie Bergeff, and Penny Conn. Blanco National Bank, Blanco Veterinary Clinic, Git-R-Dug, Car Quest, Oscar Segura, and Page and Tucker Morrow with Young Life also helped out.

Members of the Blanco FFA and Blanco Jr. FFA completed another successful livestock show season, placing animals at both Houston and Austin as the 2012-2013 show season came to an end. Leading the way for the local exhibitors were Katherine Biggs and Brenna Wallace, as each placed 3rd in the market steer show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The Easter Bunny took time out of his busy schedule to stop by the Square on Saturday, March 30, to take pictures with children and to lead an Easter egg hunt in Bindseil Park.

The Panther softball team completed the first round of district play with a 3 – 1 record. On Tuesday, March 19 the Panthers traveled to Ingram for a 23 – 0 win. With no hesitation the Panthers scored 13 runs in the 1st inning, with 3 runs tallied on a homerun by Kelsey Schwind.

The Blanco LL - Junior Girls Softball team (Rebels) shut out Lago Vista opening day, 11-0. Aggressive base running gave the Rebels an early lead. By the end of the 3rd inning, the maximum run rule was enforced and put a quick finish and victory for the Rebels’ first game.

In an overwhelming victory, the Panther softball team defeated the Lago Vista Vikings 25-0 on Tuesday, March 12. The Panthers racked up 16 hits in only 3 innings including 9 singles, 4 doubles, and 3 homeruns. Leslie McClinton, Taylor Guinn, and Abbie Culton each ripped homeruns over the fence. Meaghen Seales hit 3 of 3 with 2 singles and a double.

Spring break was good to the Panther baseball team as they tallied two more wins. First on Tuesday, March 12, the Panthers defeated the San Antonio Wolverines 8-7. Kyle Gray had 2 hits, scored 2 runs, and knocked in 2 runs. Ian Ray plated 2 runs with a single. Layne Lassberg, Kyle gray, and McKay Adamson saw action on the mound striking out 6 and scattering 11 hits.
Then on Friday, March 15, Blanco defeated the Lytle Pirates 8-3.
