The Blanco County Historical Commission held a meeting last Thursday, November 8, to discuss the upcoming 150th anniversary of Blanco County. Ideas for the sesquicentennial celebration include exhibits on founding families on display in both courthouses, a re-enactment of the organization of the county's government portrayed in period costume, Confederate and Texas Ranger representation, and histories of courthouses, people, churches, and schools. The Blanco Volunteer Fire Department used money raised from its annual fish fry to purchase a much-needed filling station for the department's self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBAs). The SCBAs were purchased with funds from the previous fish fry, and the organization now has 16 tanks for breathable air, each with 15 to 30 minutes of air, depending on the person using the tank.

For the constitutional amendment election for 2007, 780 votes were cast in Blanco County, 142 during early voting and 638 on election day, Tuesday, November 6. Statewide, all of the propositions were approved. Friday, November 9th, the Real Ale Brewery in Blanco sold its first tank of biodiesel to the public. The first customer, Rebecca Doll, describes herself as “tickled pink to have local access to real biodiesel”. Real Ale has been powering a delivery fleet with biodiesel and now, with the necessary permits and regulations satisfied, they are able to sell the fuel direct to the public.
