With our premiere location, Blanco should be known as the “shining new destination of the Texas Hill Country.” Instead, we are a town that people drive through on their way to the Texas Hill Country. Last week I received the following frightening e-mail message: “Due to recent budget cuts, high unemployment and the rising costs of food, electricity, gas and oil, as well as current market conditions, and the overall state of the union, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.” Only a few days earlier, my computer screen had offered an entirely different view of tough economic times.

A man told the ticket lady at the airport that he wanted one bag to go to New York, one to Dallas, one to Seattle. The lady told the man, “We can’t do that!” He told her, “You did it last week?” - Well, at least the man kept his sense of humor.
