For the second year in a row, the Blanco Panthers defeated the Vanderbilt Industrial Cobras to advance to the Region IV Championship Game. After turning the ball over on downs on their initial possession, Blanco would score on their n ...

We need floats, cars with girls, marching bands, clowns, well, just anything that makes a parade for young children.

Last week on the lawn in front of the old Blanco County Courthouse, Maggie Goodman spun a yarn about how a little boy invented the luminaria. He was trying to light up his little house in the country so the “pastores” or shepherds would be able to find his place and seek shelter there on their way to visit the Christ child. He found that if he took a regular brown paper bag and placed a candle in it, it would glow with a beautiful, soft light.

This week we are reviewing Four Christmases, with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn. Four Christmases is about a couple who enjoy spending their time with each other around the Holidays and make up "noble" excuses why they can't make it home for Christmas to spend time with their families. This Christmas they plan on going to Fiji, until their flight gets canceled because of fog.

Lavender Lights was a hit! Even with a new executive director, Penny Thomas, coming on board six weeks prior to the event, she was able to pull everything together quickly, and voila! we had lights!, as well as music, food, wine, prizes, and a dandy Santa. Friday night, Blanco was full of lavender lights and shoppers in and out of every establishment on the Square, some filling up their paper trees with purple dots to win prizes from the Chamber, lots buying, some just meandering, and some e ...

Isaiah 28:14-16 “14Therefore, listen to this message from the Lord, you scoffing rulers in Jerusalem. 15You boast, “We have struck a bargain to cheat death and have made a deal to dodge the grave. The coming destruction can never touch us, for we have built a strong refuge made of lies and deception.” 16Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: “Look!

God's majesty fills the whole world. To realize this is within our reach, yet too often beyond our grasp. There is no speech, there are no words, the song of the heavens is beyond expression. We sense and feel more than we comprehend, too often we see, but do not understand. Of what use are ears if the heart is hardened? Of what use are eyes, if the heart is bl ...

Children have been singing about the coming storm for years. In Bible classes and especially in VBS they sing in unison about the rain falling and winds blowing, and yet they tell us about the house built by the wise man that withstands the storm because it's built on the rock.

The trend begins with a normally healthy adult who “never gets the flu ...
