In an emotionally-charged atmosphere with many interruptions by those in attendance, members of the governing body of Blanco heard a number of citizen concerns about the police department and issues with the lack of an updated signage ordinance. In the Public Comments portion of the meeting, former mayor Tina Gourley questioned why additional police officers are not hired to alleviate the long hours put in by the current four officers, who work 12-hour shifts.

After a strong start to district play last week in Ingram, the Panthers returned home to take on a solid Marion Bulldog team for homecoming. Marion was coming off a big win over Comfort, ruining the Bobcat’s homecoming. However, the Panthers proved to be too much for the Bulldogs as a 28 point first half helped Blanco cruise to a 35 to 6 win. Blanco opened the game scoring on their first two drives as Tim Goodman and Kyle Garrow found the end zone on runs of 12 and 11 yards.

On Wednesday, October 13, Mayor Chuck Homan, as instructed by city council, met with Assistant Chief Carl Bragg and notified him that he was relieved of duty. AUSTIN — What took place here Oct. 15 might turn out to be the closest thing to a gubernatorial campaign debate Texans will get before the Nov. 2 election. The Austin stations KUT-FM, KLRU-TV and TexasTribune.org teamed up to conduct separate hour-long interviews of Gov. Rick Perry and challenger Bill White, with Evan Smith, editor in chief and CEO of TexasTribune, pitching questions. Listeners across the state submitted questions for the candidates, too.

What troubles you most: the war in Afghanistan, the thought of small groups in more than sixty nations plotting their part in terror attacks in their quest for world domination, the AIDS plague, the breakup of so many marriages, the general moral and spiritual condition of our time, the drug and alcohol toll on both youth and adults that claim more lives annually than all the current military conflicts large and small? Next question: “What can we do about these perplexing proble ...

A man once bragged that he had cut off the tail of a man-eating lion with his knife. Asked why he hadn't cut off the lion's head, the man replied, "Someone had already done that." There are many kinds of courage. Sometimes it is exhibited by bravery in some physical action, such as in a daring rescue, or times of war, or firefighting, or perhaps even lion fighting.

October already... can you believe how rapidly the year has passed? It seems only last week I was preparing the landscape for spring. Now it’s fall; waiting for winter. I watch the weather channels each day to check how low the temperature will go. My deck and yard is still full of summer plants.

You can start working on your site, but you should know that the first job that is really working on your building site is the surveying. It is highly recommended you can hire a surveyor for a couple hundred bucks, and have them come out and tell you exactly where your property lines are so that you can mark corners.
