In times of difficulty it is often hard to focus on the things for which we should be grateful. We tend to lament the things we don’t have rather than to be grateful for the things we do have.
On one occasion as I attempted to jam a shirt into an overfilled closet, I complained to my wife about how small our closets are.

Americans like to mix things even though we try to separate things when discussion gets too dicey. Politics and religion have a tendency to be discussed at the same time and in settings that aren’t conducive to healthy discussion.
And many of us are a mixture of cultures, also known as being a Heinz 57 American mutt.

A peacemaker cuts through the negative information that frequently floats around dividing people who ought to love one another.
It’s not easy to be a peacemaker because this work is contrary to our nature, yet Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers” (Matthew 5:9).
