The family of Bubba Fisher thanks everyone that extended hugs and kind words, brought food, offered up prayers on our behalf, took out the trash and a host of other things that in our grief seemed impossible to do. The outpouring of love, care and concern was beyond our imagining and we are forever grateful.

Although time passes quickly, memories of loved ones linger. The daughters of Rebecca Howerton are sincerely grateful to everyone who expressed their love for their mother by purchasing items from her estate last year. All of the funds were used to create the Rebecca Beckman Howerton Memorial High School Scholarship and the first scholarship was just given to a very deserving student, Kristin Watt. We appreciate all of the support, loving concern and friendship that has blessed our family! W ...

David Cech was born in East Chicago, Indiana. His first piece of art, made at 7 years old, was a flower made from colored tile pieces on a wooden board. He studied art at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois and at Oakton Community College. The piece shown here is painted in oils on canvas, the inspiration straight out of David’s imagination. Samples of his paintings are exhibited at the Uptown Blanco Art Studio on 3rd street. Paul wrote to Timothy that he might know how to “conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth” (I Timothy 3:15). This is a spiritual house which is the body of Christ, the church. As is the case with all houses, this house has an architect.

I encourage you to read Isaiah 59:9-16. Verse 16 says, “And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.” God has always sought for an intercessor. An intercessor stands in the gap; he makes up the breach; he is a mediator; an advocate; a defense attorney.

God created perfect foods for us to eat and most people are not eating enough of them. New discoveries are being made about the healing benefits of fruits, vegetables and grains, yet many people will never know, because they just don’t read that stuff. They’ll Google information on their hobbies, but not good health & nutrition. It’s not the devil that causes sickness and disease!

Signs, Signs, Signs. Have you noticed all the signs (roofing, u build it, internet, etc) being posted on our electrical poles and fences? In town and in the county? Have you heard: Strong is the new skinny? Among my 8 children, are a couple of teenage girls. Teenage girls tend to worry about how much they weigh, and whether or not they’re perceived as “fat.” Teen girls are more likely to develop bulimia and/or anorexia nervosa than any other group.
