On March 18, Zocalo Cafe and the Blanco Chamber of Commerce celebrated Zocalo’s official Grand Opening.
On hand from Zocalo were Chef Richard Brisco, manager Melynnda Button, owner Rich Hopkins from Tucson, AZ, and his partner Lisa Novak from Houston.
Chef Richard prepared a sampler of ahi tuna bruchettas, mini carrot cakes and rueben sandwiches. Also served were wines and beers from Texas.
Zocalo opened its doors around February 1 on a cold, snowy day. They’re serving breakfast and lunch and, starting around May 1, will have their beer and wine license and will be open on Saturday nights from 6pm to 9pm for dinner. Reservations will be encouraged. Call 830-833-4300.
Zocalo plans on having some live music events during the days of spring and summer in the back of their restaurant where they have lots of space for outdoor concerts.
Chef Richard Brisco, who is from London, England, has been cooking his whole adult life; most recently having been the executive chef at Uptown Blanco before coming over to Zocalo. Chef Brisco prepares daily specials every day for lunch. He is looking forward to using his culinary skills every Saturday starting in May. He is planning on grilling steaks and fish outside as well!
Come on down and sit a spell and try their delicious food. Have a cup coffee and a piece of pie or cheese cake outside on the front porch or at the picnic tables in the shade!
