Panther Softball Stumbles Against Eagles
Wednesday, March 23, 2011 • Posted March 24, 2011

On Friday, March 18, the softball team traveled the short distance north to play the Johnson City Eagles. The Eagles used solid defense and batting to upend the Panthers 14-4.

The first three Johnson City hitters bunted to get on base, with all three eventually scoring runs. By the third inning, the Eagles led 10-1 with the lone Panther run scored by Meaghen Seales stealing home.

In the fourth inning, the Panthers added two more runs when Taylor Guinn slammed a double to bring home Kelsey Schwind and Chandler Ashley. In the fifth inning, Callie Culton hit a double and Leslie McClinton hit a sacrifice fly to bring Culton home for the run. The Eagles would not allow a Panther rally as they added more runs to win the game.

Callie Culton and Chandler Ashley pitched for Blanco. Kelsey Schwind hit two singles, while Callie Culton and Taylor Guinn hit doubles. Chandler Ashley added a single.

The Panthers hold a 11-10 season record as they begin their district schedule on March 22 against the Junction Eagles and March 25 against the Ingram Warriors. Following these two out-of-town games, Blanco will host Harper on March 29.

The Panther baseball team will travel to Ingram for their first district clash on March 25.
