Sheriff: Drug Deal Gone Bad Ends in Murder Near Kendalia
Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Murder, Arrests Blanco County Resident

The body of a 55-year-old man was discovered in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 26, in his residence in the 300 block of East Headwaters Ranch Road, according to a statement issued by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

The residence is located in the Headwaters Ranch subdivision, just a third of a mile into Kendall County, about 6 miles north of Kendalia, and about 6 miles southwest of Blanco.

Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call from a concerned friend at approximately 1:21 am. The friend reported that he had discovered the body of Ravis Clark laying in the bed of his residence.

The initial investigation by the deputies determined that Clark had been shot while in his bed. The killing was likely the result of a drug deal gone bad, the statement continued, based on evidence found inside the residence.

On March 30, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement that they had arrested a suspect for the murder of Clark. Gilbert Atkinson, 43, of Blanco County, was booked into the Kendall County Jail. According to the release, Atkinson was a close friend of the deceased and was the concerned friend who originally reported finding Clark’s body.
