How many of you know you can sit down to study a chapter of God’s Word, and the next day you are compelled to search out different information and wisdom? Well, I heard that someone has said Jesus will come get us sometime this May. Don’t be misled, but do get ready. I suggest reading chapters 24 and 25 of Matthew.
Jesus said "36But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Matthew 24:36
He also said "42Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 24:42-51
I asked a question one day, "If those of us who ‘have been saved’ or in other words, believe in Jesus Christ as our risen Lord and Saviour, who is the Son of God and the Son of man, who lived, died and arose from the dead and is seated at the right hand of God, were to be caught red handed in the middle of a sin at the instant Jesus raptures up His church, do you think we’d go to heaven, or do you think we’d be left behind?"
The replies varied. Some felt once we’re saved, we’re always saved, and since we’re not yet perfect, if we believe in Jesus as our Lord, we won’t be left behind. Others were not sure.
Read these Scriptures and let the Holy Ghost lead you. It couldn’t be more clear to me that Jesus is warning us to be ready at all times. In fact, He said don’t even get into a fist fight or eat and drink with drunkards (that could mean being in a bar)! Jesus says we would be cut asunder and appointed our portion with the rest of the hypocrites, and will weep and gnash our teeth.
Now, I may be wrong (check with your pastors) but to me Jesus is telling us in verses 34-51 of Matthew 24, to be wary, watch, and work hard at being perfectly holy, as much as we can be, always trying to do what’s right, and refrain from all forms of perverseness, and stay away from people that lead us the wrong way, and especially away from bars. Sorry, but it’s so simple… why do we take chances? Isn’t that the same as being a hypocrite ourselves? You see I’m including myself here, even though I don’t go shoot pool anymore, it never occurred to me that I was taking a chance of losing my eternal salvation in heaven because I had never taken this Scripture into my heart. Yes I had read it, but I had skimmed over it. We do that when we don’t want it to touch us! It never seared my heart, and now that it has I have to share it, because we are held accountable for what we learn, so it’s now my responsibility to show others so they can have a chance to let it sear their hearts, too, and possibly save their eternal life in heaven. I hope my loved ones read this, also.
Peter said "13Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
17And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
18Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
20Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
21Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
25But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." 1 Peter 1:13-25
And finally, Paul said "10For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
11Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
12For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
13For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.
14For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
16Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:10-21 KJV
Let the Holy Ghost lead you!
