Dear Editor,

It was a great disappointment to learn that Riley’s Barbecue was going out of business in Blanco.

We visit Blanco at least twice a year and always have lunch at Rileys one of the days of our visit.  Their barbecue brisket is the best we have found in our travels around Texas.  It is by far better than that served at the much advertised place in Elgin.

During our  visit on Sunday, April 10, I mentioned  to a friend that we were sad about Riley’s closing their restaurant.  Much to our surprise, we learned Rileys have a mobile kitchen that serves barbecue at Albert, Texas on the weekends. It was definitely worth the 14 mile drive from Blanco  to Albert to get the tender, juicy brisket that is my favorite and eat it seated on the same picnic tables  from their restaurant in an open air covered dining area.
