Someone said, “Money won’t buy happiness, but it will pay the salaries of a large research staff to study the problem.”
Jesus said, “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid; and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it” (Matthew 13:44-45). It’s not often that you find something that is worth everything. But Jesus is saying the kingdom of heaven is like that. The man not only sells all that he has to obtain his new treasure, but he does so with joy. Most people live there whole life just hoping to find something so precious as this.
The everlasting spiritual kingdom of God is full of those things that no earthly kingdom can provide. Paul once said that the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17). What price indeed do we put of faith, hope, love, forgiveness, truth, peace, fellowship, and the promises of God. Jesus came to provide all these things in His Kingdom, which any one can enjoy through His magnificent grace. What have you found that is worth everything? His resurrection makes possible the receiving of His unshakeable kingdom (Hebrews 12:28). Come and hear the good news.
