Annual Fun Run Well Attended
Wednesday, April 20, 2011 • Posted April 23, 2011

The 2011 Project Graduation committee hosted the annual Project Graduation 5k Fun Run on April 9. The event was well attended with 131 runners and with many Blanco High School senior volunteers. The morning began with a gentle breeze and quickly warmed up as the runners fared the 3.1 mile course through the Blanco State Park. Both starting and finish lines were at the Blanco County Courthouse.

Medals were awarded to the top 3 in each age category.  Dustin Barton, Blanco High School’s principal, was awarded the overall male runner as he finished the race in first place with a time of 18:14. Vanessa Sanchez was awarded the overall female runner with a time of 22:03.

The race could have not been made possible with the help of many – especially our sponsors, who were: Chimney Valley Lodge, Pico Springs Ranch, Anders Realty, Immel’s Dairy Service, Inc., Strickland Drugs, Wagner Materials & Construction, Blanco Regional Medical Clinic, Blanco State Park, Woodforest National Bank and Soler’s Sports.  We would also like to acknowledge all those who gave of their time especially the BHS senior volunteers, Donna Ashley, Jan Koehl, Tammy San Miguel, Dr. Doug Pautz, and the Project Graduation Committee.
