I have a vested interest in Blanco ISD. My children have attended Blanco schools for the last eleven years. In recent weeks, there have been some very interesting letters and coverage regarding the upcoming Blanco ISD Trustee election. This is an important election, because while some schools are rated quite well, I was fairly surprised to see the following information, provided by the Texas Education Association. All Harper schools are rated Exemplary; Mason, Llano, Dripping Springs and Wimberley have schools that are all rated Recognized or Exemplary. Unfortunately, Blanco seems to be lagging behind our neighbors.

Texas Monthly has an interesting roundtable discussion this month regarding the impact of state funding relative to school districts. While the opinions vary considerably, the underlying theme is that local school districts are being forced to make tough decisions. When this occurs at Blanco ISD, those decisions should be based on accurate information and the desire to provide the highest quality education for our children. As a parent, taxpayer, and voter, I certainly want someone who is aware of the issues and will spend the time and effort necessary to help bring this about.

Sincerely,

John C. Stults

Wimberley, TX
