Serrano Celebrates 80th
Wednesday, April 27, 2011 • Posted May 5, 2011

An invitation is extended to everyone in Blanco and surrounding areas to participate in the celebration of Maria Serrano’s (the can lady) 80th birthday on May 2. There will not be a party, but if you happen to see her, wish her a happy birthday. You are also welcome to stop by her house to wish her a happy birthday. If you need a translator, her four-year-old grandson will be happy to do so if neither me or my sister, Vicky, are around.

We arrived in Blanco in 1993 and love the town and the people. We are so grateful for the Blanco United Methodist Church and Lunches of Love, who have brought her a hot meal every Sunday and Monday. May God’s abundant grace and love be with all of you. Maria has had three major surgeries in less than a year; two total knee replacements on the removal of a large tumor on the right side of her throat. So many people fervently prayed for her and she came to understand the love of God, the forgiveness of her sins, and the freedom which she obtained by confessing Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Our prayer is that God, who started great things in her, may take them to completion by living in the promise God gave her after her first knee surgery; that he will let her live 15 more years full of peace, joy, and sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
