Lady Panthers District Co-Champs

On Monday, April 18, the Lady Panthers shut out the Comfort Deer 5-0 to finish district as co-champions with the Junction Lady Eagles. The Panthers and Eagles each hold a 7-1 district record.

Against the Deer, Callie Culton pitched 10 strike-outs, giving up only three hits and one walk. Chandler Ashley hit a single and scored two runs while Meaghen Seales added two singles. Alex Gustafson hit a single with a run and one RBI, and Taylor Guinn smacked a double with a run.

On Friday, April 22, Blanco faced Junction in Harper to establish the seeding position in the play-offs. The game started off close, with Junction leading 1-0 through the third inning. Junction then scored five runs on hits and errors to lead 6-1 at the end of the fourth. Junction continued their hitting streak in the fifth inning, scoring seven more runs to end the game 13-1. The Panthers tallied only two hits –  a single by Callie Culton and a double by Kelsey Schwind.

Blanco will face Sonora in the first round of play-offs in a best 2 out of 3 series. The first game will be played on Friday, April 29, at the Fredericksburg High School softball field at 7:00pm, followed by the second game on Saturday, April 30, at 10:00am. If a third game is necessary, it will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Saturday game.
