The Blanco FFA Chapter will be competing at nationals for the 10th time after the land-judging team placed 4th overall at the State FFA Land-Judging Contest this past month in Stephenville. Team members Lauren Winn, Lindsey Winn, Erica Flores and Monica Flores earned the right to represent the Blanco FFA and Texas at the National Land Judging Contest in Oklahoma City this week by placing in the top 5 teams. Individually, 200 contestants competed in this year’s event with Monica placing 10th overall and Lindsey 14th.
The Blanco FFA Range & Pasture Judging team also placed high, just missing a trip to nationals by a few points as they finished 6th overall. Team members included Mindy Dechert, Kylie Leachman, Payton Duvall and Grady Childress. Mindy did well individually placing 8th, while Grady finished 13th.
Also representing the local FFA chapter were Elise Edmondson, Morgan Lowak, Colton Childress and Britton Wagner as they competed in the State Dairy Cattle Judging event, placing 33rd overall. The State FFA Land, Range and Dairy contests are annually sponsored by Tarleton State University and feature the top 50 teams from across the state competing in each event.
