Do you feel like an ambassador? Do you think you’ve been called by Christ? You mean me, you say? Yes, you! Why would I say that? Because Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
So then, you and I have a ministry. Did you see that? It’s reconciling other people to God, just like we’ve been reconciled to God, through Christ Jesus. We’ve been called by God. We are Christ’s ambassadors.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 “14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”
A new life has begun for all of us who love God and believe in His Son Jesus Christ as our risen Lord and Saviour. Last week I shared what Jesus said in John 6:41-71, that we must be drawn by God, unto Jesus Christ.
I wonder, do you think God draws everyone? I know we all have free will to refuse Him, and some do.
“12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13
It is written in 1 Timothy 2:1-4 “1 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
In Deuteronomy 30:18-20 God said “18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. 19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; 20 that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”
So, God wants all men to be saved, He said “choose life” and we’ve all been chosen and drawn by God, and we’re ambassadors!
In Romans 8:29-30Paul said “28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”
