The Rock That Will Not Tremble

After a shipwreck a young boy clung to a rock through a cold night. When rescued he was asked if he trembled in the night, he said, “I trembled all night... but the rock on which I laid never did.” The Lord is a rock to those who trust in Him. The Psalmist said, “My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken” (Psalm 62:1-2). True security cannot be found in men, money or self. No man, save our Lord Jesus Christ, is without fault or is incapable of being deceived. Earthly riches cannot be trusted. They can easily loose their value or be taken from us. As for self, each us have weaknesses and can have faulty judgments.

Fortunately true security can be found in hearing and obeying our Lord. His word is everlasting and provides wisdom and strength to those who seek it and apply it. In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus speaks of the wise man and the foolish man. The difference between the two, is not in the storms that come our way, nor in the hearing of the word, but in the doing of the same. Let all men believe in the Christ as the Son of God(John 8:24), repent of sin (Acts 17:30-31), confess the Lord (Romans 10:9-10), be baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:26-27), and then continue to faithfully follow our Lord (I Corinthians 15:58).

The Lord and His word shall not fail those who come in faith and obedience to His marvelous will.
