Robert Flannery receives promotion

December 29, 1978

San Antonio - - Robert Flannery, a Blanco resident, has been named payroll officer at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Previously he served eight years in the payroll office and four years in accounting at the University of Texas at Austin.

Yule Supper Held by Young Farmers and Young Homemakers

December 27, 1968

The annual Young Homemakers and Young Farmers Christmas supper was held in the school cafeteria on December 9.

After a delightful meal, everyone enjoyed a film on the white tail deer, “Mister White Tail.”

Guests present were Supt. And Mrs. Lester Cobb and advisers, Mrs. Louis Moore and Mr. Henry Bendele.

Kristine Johnson receives January degree from SWT

December 29, 1978

San Marcos - - Kristine Johnson, formerly of Blanco was among the 1,058 Southwest Texas State University students who filed for degrees awarded in winter commencement ceremonies Saturday, December 23, at Straham Gymnasium.

Mrs. Johnson received a bachelor of science in education degree with a major in physical education. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.R. Gloor of Rt. 4, Blanco. Mrs. Johnson and her husband Sherman currently reside in Maxwell.


December 27, 1968

Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wittliff of Austin are the proud parents of a baby boy, William Reid Wittliff, born December 10 at St. David’s Hospital in Austin. The baby weighed 7 pounds, 2 ½ ounces and was 19 ½ inches tall.

Maternal grandparents are Dr. and Mrs. Taymond Bowers, Tuscon, Arizona, paternal grandmother is Mrs. G.A. Walser, Blanco.

Maternal great grandparents are Dr. Wilson D. Wallis, South Woodstock, Connecticut and Mrs. Beulah Ramsey, Kansas City, Mosurri.

Paternal great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. E.G. Sachtleben of Floresville.

Young Homemakers Association Meet

December 27, 1968

Christmas was in the air at the meeting of the Young Homemakers. The kindergarten class of Mrs. Lucy Morgan presented a short Christmas skit about Santa Clause and his reindeer.

Pat Hartman and Kay Berger have a short Christmas devotion.

Christmas cookies and punch were served to all.

Our Servicemen

December 27, 1968

Technical Sergeant Marvin E. Van Matre, son of Mr. and Mrs. Riley Van Matre of Johnson City, is on duty at Cam Ran Bay AB, Vietnam.

Sergeant Van Matre, a munitions technician, is a member of the Pacific Air Forces.

Before his arrival in Vietnam he was assigned to Amarillo, AFB.

The Sergeant is a graduate of Clear Creek High School in League City.

His wife is the former Simon K. Albrecht.

Fritz J. Wittkohl, son of Mr. and Mrs. O.H. Wittkohl of Johnson City, has been promoted to maters sergeant in the U.S. Air Forces.

Sergeant Wittkohl, a security police supervisor at Bergstrom AFB, served in the Air Force during the Korean War and World War II.

His wife is the former Alwina Weirich.
