•Friends of Blanco State Park will meet at 6:30p.m. at the park’s Pavilion. A warm invitation is extended to all persons wishing to join in helping Blanco State Park draw more visitors to Blanco County and area businesses. Come hear what the group is doing, how you can become a member and how you can help improve the park. Chili and a warm fire will be provided.

•The Voice of Elvis & Legends: Jan 10th, 7:00pm at Brauntex Theater of Performing Arts (290 W San Antonio, New Braunfels, 830-627-0808). Jesse Aron, considered by his peers to be one of the top 3 Elvis Tribute Artist's in the Country, will perform a special Elvis birthday concert. •Trout Fishing in Blanco! Blanco State Park will be stocked with rainbow trout on January 15th and January 29th. Pay only the $4 park entry fee, no fishing license required! Fish from the bank or rent a canoe/kayak (no motorized boats are allowed in Blanco State Park). There is no length limit on trout, but a daily bag limit of 5. These dates are subject to change so please call A.E. Wood Fish Hatchery at 512-353-0572 before coming out to confirm date. Largemouth bass, catfish and sunfish are also always plentiful in the park’s waters. Come fishing!

•Hill Country CattleWomen will hold their Annual Legislative Meeting on Tuesday, January 20 at the Inn of The Hills Resort, 1001 Junction Highway, Kerrville. Coffee and sign-in are at 10am, with the meeting starting at 10:30am; lunch following. Cost for the luncheon is $16. Reservations must be made before January 14 with your Area Reservation Chair or Beverly Lacy 830-229-5604. This meeting is open to the public and for anyone interested in private property rights. James R. Gaines, President and lobbyist for Texas Landowners Council, is the speaker for this January meeting. He will speak from personal experience on the challenges facing landowners. The issues of condemnation of your land for highways, defending agricultural valuation of your land, and fighting to maintain privacy for navigable streams or creeks on one's property will be addressed.
