Family and friends are holding a benefit on Saturday, May 21, at the Blanco County Fairgrounds for David and Karen Freer. David and his wife, Karen, are long time residents of the Johnson City area. David is a rancher and Karen is recently retired from PEC. David has been battling with leukemia and has been approved for a life-saving stem cell transplant at M.D. Anderson in Houston.
The proceeds will help the couple with medical bills and living expenses while in the Houston area.
A poker run, $10 per rider $5 per passenger, first bike out 11am, live music by The Circuit Breakers and The Empty Handed Vagabonds begins at 3pm, washer tournament, sign up at 1pm and a raffle, live and silent auctions, kids activities and a bar-b-que meal, 4pm until gone by donation, will keep you and your family busy for the day. Beer and refreshments will also be available. Raffle tickets are on sale now at Cattleman's Banks, Johnson City Bank, Ronnies Bar-B-Que, Silver K and from PEC employees. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Look for the flyers around town to view raffle items. These include a go-cart, a $500 Visa Gift Card, a $50 Home Depot Card, handmade quilt and much more.
