Wednesday, May 18, 2011 • Posted May 19, 2011 • Updated May 19, 2011 1:35 PM

Pedernales Electric is recognizing and supporting local organizations throughout its service area with $1,000 donations through its annual Light the Way program. PEC has been offering valuable community support for several years to groups that assist neighbors, enrich communities, render aid and provide safe environments for seniors.

“These organizations receiving donations ‘light the way’ by providing community support,” said PEC Community Relations Manager Toni Reyes. “As a cooperative, we are honored to support and build our communities, and these organizations strengthen our communities.”

Twelve organizations received contributions in the Johnson City area. Light the Way honors chambers of commerce, emergency medical services, libraries, fire departments and senior citizen centers. Those receiving Light the Way donations help their communities by providing necessary services that benefit all citizens, including PEC members. //

“Blanco Senior Citizens Center is a project of Community Action Inc., and we greatly appreciate the support that PEC contributes to our organization,” said Tina Morrow with the Blanco Senior Citizens Center. “Their generous donation allows us to do things outside of our regular funding that we wouldn’t be able to do otherwise.”

PEC recently hosted Light the Way receptions at local offices to personally express appreciation, present 2011 Light the Way contributions and recognize the organizations that make PEC communities better places in which to live. Pedernales Electric has posted a list of the organizations receiving donations on www.pec.coop.
