Veterans Remembered, Honored at Museum Event
Wednesday, June 1, 2011 • Posted June 2, 2011

The Blanco Pioneer Museum with the American Legion remembered the many veterans of our country on May 29, 2011 on the lawn of the Pioneer Museum. The American Legion Post presented the flag and after the pledge and a prayer conducted a ceremony honoring the Missing and POWs. Veterans in the audience where asked to stand while a song was sung for each branch of service. The veterans then stated where they served and what rank they obtained during the service to their country.

Rebecca Howerton led everyone in a sing-a-long with music chosen from the World War II period. American flags were distributed as well as lemonade during the event. Approximately 50 people attended with many staying to visit and talk afterwards about their experiences and visit the museum.

The directors of the museum appreciate everyone for assisting in this impromptu event.
