Native Texans Patrick and Patti McLead have always wanted to live in the Hill Country. As a young boy Patrick’s family came to the Blanco every summer to attend the Benson Family Reunion. Patti and Patrick continued this annual trip with their two growing boys. Garrett their first son served in the U.S. Army from 2001 to August 22, 2007 when he and nine of his fellow Scouts died in a helicopter crash while returning from a reconnaissance mission in Multaka, Iraq. Mason their second son is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin. He is married and lives in Austin and works with an Internet Technology company.

After Garrett’s death Patti and Patrick realized just how short life can be and decided to pursue their dream of having a Bed and Breakfast in the Texas Hill Country. Their goal was to find a quiet place where people could relax, refresh and renew, particularly those parents whose sons or daughters have died while in Military service to our country. The search brought them to an 18 acre property just south of Johnson City, Texas. Songbird Meadows Bed and Breakfast is located at the end of a winding country road. The property is beautiful and secluded. Each of the three cabins are tucked back into the trees for privacy. A delicious wholesome breakfast is delivered to your door each morning in an old-fashioned picnic basket. Patti and Patrick invite you to come and experience the calming quiet and cozy comfort of Songbird Meadows Bed and Breakfast, 1022 Stanton Ranch Loop, Johnson City, Texas.
