FFA Members Receive National Scholarships

Three members of the Blanco FFA Chapter were recently notified by the National FFA Organization that they have been selected to receive a National FFA Scholarship. Seniors Payton Duvall, Mindy Dechert and Grady Childress will each be the recipient of a nationally sponsored agricultural scholarship. Payton will be receiving a $2,500 Toyota FFA Scholarship to attend Texas A&M University and major in Agricultural Engineering. Mindy and Grady will each get a $1,000 Cargill FFA Scholarship. Mindy will use her scholarship to attend Sam Houston State University to pursue a degree in Agricultural Business while Grady will be attending Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and majoring in Biology. In addition to receiving a National FFA Scholarship, Payton and Mindy are also finalists for the Texas FFA Scholarship, valued at up to $16,000.
