An anniversary celebration was held at the home of Elsie and Jim Meurer, hosted by their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On June 16, 1951, Elsie A. Schmidt of Blanco was wed to James E. Meurer of Fredericksburg. The nuptials were held at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Blanco, and the reception was held at The Club House in Blanco State Park.

Over the years, three children were born to them at the Blanco Courthouse – when it was a hospital. Elsie and Jim have resided all of their married life in Blanco, except for a short time during the Korean War when they were in Corpus Christi, Texas. They have a proud tradition of working in Blanco: EMS, gas stations, hospital work, butane delivery, lumberyard – not to mention all the participation in Blanco schools and sports. The children have lived in Blanco, moved, returned, or left for other parts of Texas – but "home" is always the little house on Singleton here in Blanco.

We, the children, spouses of children, grandkids, great-grand kids all take pride in this celebration of 60 years of married life.
