Don’t Mess with Texas – It appears on billboards, bumper stickers, magazines, postcards and T-shirts. We hear the slogan on the radio and T.V. Is it effective? Since TxDOT’s litter prevention program began in 1986, tons of trash have been kept off Texas roads and highways through the Adopt-a-Highway program and the Spring Trash-offs. Blanco has been a proud participant in the trash-off event for twelve years. Each year our city is litter free for, at least, a day. We need to make every day a trash-off event and keep our roadways free of litter.

Don’t Mess with Texas also has a scholarship program. This year students from Pflugerville, Mission and Vidor won $5000 in scholarships for the essays they wrote on their efforts to Keep Texas Beautiful.

Every year there is a contest to design a litter bag. The voting is underway to choose this year’s winner. Go to Don’tMesswithTexas.org and click on “design a Litterbag Contest” to vote for your favorite. You will find the link on the right side of the page.

Remember – Grab it and Bag it. Keep Blanco Beautiful
