Fire departments were called out to a fire in the 4900 block of Crabapple Rd. on Thursday, June 30. The Blanco Volunteer Fire Department was first dispatched, and firefighters from Kendalia, Johnson City, and Spring Branch followed. With the potential for grass and brush fires to expand rapidly, multiple agencies are dispatched for any reports.

The departments got it under control in a hurry, reported Blanco fire chief David Hotz. Multiple structures on the property were threatened and all were saved.

Some of the siding was charred, Hotz said.

The fire, caused by welding, burned an estimated 30 acres.

Fireworks Ban Followed

Chief Hotz reported that the fire department was not called out for any fireworks-related calls during the July 4 weekend.
