Hebrews 9
Wednesday, July 6, 2011 • Posted July 7, 2011

Chapter 9 of Hebrews speaks of the Old Covenant tabernacle which only a high priest could approach God and you and I could not; yet even the sacrifices could not make the priest perfect. But now we have the New Covenant and it gives us full access to God always, as it is written in Hebrews 10:19-23 “19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

Now that you and I “can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place” (above) how would you “plead together” (below) your entreaty to our Lord “that thou mayest be justified?” (below)

It is written in Isaiah 43:26 “Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.”

What is in your heart? Do you love God and His Word?

In Jeremiah 17:9-10 NASB it is written ““The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it? “I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds.”

You and I have not and cannot do anything to justify ourselves, but God’s Holy Word can, if we believe in it, love it, obey it, adhere to it, worship it, and by the way, Who is it?

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

Christ Is the Perfect Sacrifice

Hebrews 9:11-15 “11 So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. 12 With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.

13 Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. 14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. 15 That is why he is the one who mediates a new covenant between God and people, so that all who are called can receive the eternal inheritance God has promised them. For Christ died to set them free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under that first covenant.”

Praise be to God the Father for preserving His Word so we may read it and partake of it, learn it, believe in it, and increase our faith by it!

Proverbs 22:12 “The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.” Hallelujah! God overthrows the words of the transgressor to save His Word for us! And, in addition to that, He performs His Word!

Jeremiah 1:12 “Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.”

Here are a few examples were God says He will perform His spoken Word!

2 Chronicles 6:10

The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

2 Chronicles 10:15

So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

1 Samuel 3:12

In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.

Genesis 26:3 “Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; 4And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 5Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” Psalm 33:12 KJV
