Cypress Mill Rd. Wild Fire Consumes Estimated 200 Acres

Last Thursday afternoon, July 7, fire departments from around the area responded to a fire off Cypress Mill Road, or County Road 301, northeast of Johnson City.

At 5pm, Blanco County dispatch reported that 200 acres were involved and that 29 units were fighting the flames. Round Mountain, Johnson City, Henly, Gillespie County, and Marble Falls fire departments sent crews to Cypress Mill Rd. Three air units and two bulldozers from the Texas Forest Service were also assisting. At that time, the fire was not under control.

By 7pm, units were slowly being released from the fire and heading back to their respective stations. By 9:32pm, the fire had been contained. A few units stayed to monitor the area for possible rekindling through the night.

According to the wild fire danger situation report from Texas DPS, the fire threatened two structures.
