I commend Shelton Smith for writing his letter published July 13 and also for his courage in confronting the rude individual regarding that person’s driving practices.
I, too, have been confused by the speed limits posted for Blanco. We have city limits at both the north end and the south end of Blanco. Why, then, does the section of town north of 4th Street have a speed limit of 40 mph, whereas the section south of 4th Street is limited to 35 mph? I think the speed limit should be consistent, either 35 or 40, from one city limit to the other.
I guess I had never paid attention to the limits before because my husband did all the driving, but since his demise this has fallen to me and I have been in the process of learning the rules of the road as they pertain to Blanco and Texas. The difference in speed limits once you pass 4th Street is confusing - first a person has to remember, “Am I headed south or am I headed north?”.
Consistency is the key to anything one does in life and I am sure our local police would prefer that the main street from one end of our lovely town to the other end be the same.
Again, thank you, Mr. Smith, for your letter, which helped me decide to write this communication. I don’t consider myself to be “stupid,” only “confused” by this discrepancy, as stated above.
