Nine Blanco FFA members were recognized on stage this past week in Lubbock at the Annual State FFA Convention. Highlighting the convention for Blanco was $38,000 in scholarships that were awarded to four local members. Seniors Payton Duvall and Mindy Dechert were each presented a $16,000 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship in addition to also receiving a $1,500 San Antonio Livestock Exposition School Tours Scholarship. Also receiving S.A.L.E. School Tours Scholarships were Kylie Leachman and Lauren Winn.

Other local award recipients included Katelyn Bradfute, Susannah Campbell, Alex Gustafson and Cody Perez, as each was presented with the State FFA Degree. The Lone Star Degree is the highest individual accomplishment that an FFA member can achieve.

Finally, Kellam Nabers competed in the State Soil Stewardship Event advancing to the finals and placing 4th overall. Kellam was the only underclassman to place in the top 10.
