Dear Editor,

Wow... I go on vacation for a week and come back to find our city council has declared a second visitor center in Blanco.

My main concern, doesn’t anyone remember what Johnson City went through just a few years ago when they had two visitor centers? One location was on Hwy 281 and the other was in the JC Chamber. Well it was pure turmoil, public confusion, pitted people and businesses against each other, and more. I had friends at each location and personally heard the horror stories. Finally, the second visitor center conceded and closed, allowing the Chamber to house the only visitor center. So we can’t always work with Johnson City, but can’t we at least learn from their mistakes? I’m disappointed that more research and thought was not put into this decision by our city council. As a tourist, you come to our town and see two visitor signs on our tiny square on two different buildings, what would you think? My question – For a town of 1700, do we really need two visitors’ centers?
