A man bought a donkey for a $100.00. As the donkey was being delivered, the donkey died, but the man said, "I'll take the donkey anyway." The seller said, "Why in the world would you want a dead donkey?"
He said, "Come see me in a couple of months!" When he did the man told him he had made $898.00 profit off the dead donkey. The man said, "How did you manage that?" He said, "I raffled 500 tickets for two dollars a piece for the donkey." The man asked, "didn't the people get mad?" He said, "just the fellow that won and I gave him his money back."
From time to time we have all paid for something and then wondered why we would make such a purchase. But usually if we obtain something of great value to us, we don't care about the cost, we consider it worth the price. Jesus said that this is true concerning the Kingdom of heaven. Listen carefully to His words, "The Kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found and hid, and from joy over it he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it" (Matthew 13:44-46).
There is something worth everything. Do you know Christ and the blessings of His Kingdom? All that there is in this life cannot compare!
