Brush up on your songwriting techniques – Blanco County Inn is having a theme song/jingle contest to celebrate the 80th birthday of the motel. The winner will be announced on September 24, 2011, at RalphStock (at the Blanco County Inn). So far, Anna and Echoe Burkhart and Nelson Broyal have great entries, but there are still lots of people in Blanco, who could possibly outwrite them – you will never know until you try!

Our thoughts go out to the family of Edythe Knox, who passed away Saturday morning. She was a most interesting lady.

The Blanco County Fair and Rodeo is coming up this weekend. The parade is Saturday morning at 10:00 - if you don't mind braving the heat, it will be a great parade. And the dances at night will be worth going to, even if they are outside!

Remember, school starts Monday, so watch out for the kids walking.

Start thinking about your entry for the Christmas parade - this year it's going to be a night parade, with lights to rival Johnson City!!!

My goats never came home, but thanks to all who asked about them. I hope they found another herd and didn't become cabrito for somebody's table - they had names!
