4H, FFA Youth Council Cancel BBQ Due to Dry Conditions
Thursday, August 18, 2011 • Posted August 18, 2011

For several years now, the Blanco County 4H and FFA Youth Council has been on the courthouse square during and after each annual rodeo parade preparing succulent bar-b-que to try and raise funds for their annual scholarships for graduating seniors in the county. Unfortunately, due to several contributing factors, mainly the dry conditions, this proud tradition will not be carried on this year. Though the Council is as disappointed as some of its patrons may be for not having the event this year, the directors felt it prudent to postpone the event and not create a potential problem with open pits/fires to prepare the bar-b-que.

In lieu of purchasing bar-b-que after the parade this year, the Council would like to ask their loyal supporters who are still willing to contribute to the scholarship fund to contact Doug Smith at 512-965-4436 or Keitha Johnson at 830-833-4138 or bcyc78@gmail.com to make a contribution. The Council looks forward to wetter conditions for everyone and seeing everyone at the upcoming Sale Committee's Wild Game Dinner on October 1 and the Blanco County 4H and FFA Youth Livestock Show January 26-28, 2012.
