A police officer pulled over a driver who had several machetes in the back seat. When asked about them, the man said he was a performer and he juggled machetes. The officer didn't believe him and asked for a demonstration. As he was juggling, another driver drove by and saw the juggling act. He pulled over and called his wife and said, "I've made up my mind. I'm giving up drinking. You wouldn't believe the sobriety test they give when they pull you over."
Often times we hear or see something and we draw the wrong conclusions. When Nathanael was told about Jesus he said, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."
(John 1:46). Philip invited Nathanael to investigate. To come and see for himself. The Bible is before us in this land in which we live. It is readily available. We sometimes hear statements about the Bible, and that the Bible teaches a certain thing, when in reality such statements and teachings have no basis. We should be like the Bereans who "received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so" (Acts 17:11).
