Teen’s First Summer Jobs – Blanco, Texas Style
Thursday, August 18, 2011 • Posted August 18, 2011

Sixteen-year-old Rain Johnston Reich, daughter of Mary Johnston, director at Uptown Blanco Art Center, and Charles Reich of Alamosa, Colorado, volunteered with Dr. Behrend’s team.

Rain volunteered all summer with the goal of becoming an Equine Vet. She feels that Dr. Behrends and his great crew were a perfect introduction into the realities of Veterinary Science and felt Dr. B. was a fantastic role model.

Rain worked from the Lavender Festival until August 12 at Papa Joey’s. Rain exuberantly recollects: “I’ll NEVER have a better job working with such incredible people. I didn’t just love my job, I was IN love with my job!”

Owner Joey had a special cake made by Donna of Sister’s Best for Rain’s going-away party on Friday, August 12. Employees also good naturedly ‘creamed’ Rain, which was a big surprise!
