The Blanco Library is very pleased to announce that we got the grant for a free one-year subscription to e-books. We will be working closely with our regional system to get everything operational by the end of October. As a side note, the e-book provider we will be working with, OverDrive, is not currently compatible to Kindles since Amazon designed them that way. The good news is that Amazon is working with OverDrive and should be compatible at the end of the year. We will have classes on how to access and check out the e-books once we are ready.

Also, as a special treat for everyone, on September 3 only, the library will have a sale on all VHS movies. Every video will be just 25¢!

Speaking of money, we are pleased to introduce a new club; the Fourth Tuesday Investment Lunch Club. This informal/casual club is being hosted by one of our volunteers, Carolyn Howe. Mrs. Howe was a part of a similar investment club in Fort Worth. This club does not require anyone to share any personal information nor for you to invest in anything. The group will read books and articles about investing, share thoughts and ideas, and share a meal together once a month. This club is an introduction to investing and a time to have fun learning! If you are interested in joining this club, come by the library and fill out one of our forms. The first meeting will be held in September.

For those of you wanting help with computers and navigating the Internet, our previous trainer is volunteering to conduct one more class. We are asking people to stop by the library to fill out one of our surveys so we know what kind of class you all are interested in. He is willing to come any day of the week, any time between 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., and teach. The classes he is prepared to teach are Computer Basics (ex: this is a mouse, this is Word, etc), Internet/Email Basics (ex: this is how you do a search, this is how you sign up for e-mail, etc), Searching for a Job Online, and Applying for a Job Online. If you are interested in a different kind of computer class, we have a space for you to mention that too. Please stop by and fill out one of our surveys if you are interested.

Finally, if your child signed up for our reading club, we still have some prizes left to hand out. We are turning in our records this week to the Blanco Elementary School of the children who participated this summer, but we still have prizes left for those that have not yet come in to claim them. We will continue to give them out until September 2.
