Measuring with the Father
Blanco Church of Christ

A little girl went with her father to buy carpet. As he carefully measured the carpet, stepping off heel to toe, he said, "twelve steps." His girl followed close behind and was also stepping and counting, and she looked up, and said, "no daddy, it's twenty steps." He smiled, picked her up and said, "Now, count the steps with me." Sure enough they both counted twelve steps.

The steps we take in life take on a different perspective when taken in the arms of the heavenly Father. The apostle Peter said, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you" (I Peter 5: 6-7). It is important to remove pride, and come in humility, and trust, to our heavenly Father. Let us not try to carry our trials and burdens alone when our Father is ever present to aid us. Our trials and temptations are measured differently when we are with the Lord. Paul's trials were many but he said, "The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen (II Timothy 4:18).

We were not meant to live life without Him. He has revealed through His word a plan for us. In Jesus Christ the price for all our sins has been paid. Let Him guide you and strengthen you. Let Him do the measuring.
