The King’s Pardon
Blanco Church of Christ
Wednesday, August 31, 2011 • Posted September 1, 2011

A King visited his over crowded dungeon and asked all those who were guilty of their crimes to stand. Everyone began to proclaim their innocence. Finally, two men stood and said they were guilty of the crimes of which they had been convicted. The King pardoned the two men and announced to the others that there could be no pardon for innocent men!

The disciples of Jesus were asked by the Pharisees why their Lord ate with the tax-gatherers and sinners. Jesus heard the question and responded saying, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners" (Mark 2:15-17). We can only find help from the great Physician if we are willing to admit our need. The scriptures proclaim, "There is none righteous, not even one", and again, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:10, 23). Our Father in heaven seeks to pardon. How can we receive a pardon from wrongs we have not committed? The scriptures state, "Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near, Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thought; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon" (Isaiah 55:6-7).

Have you been honest about your spiritual condition? Why not seek the Lord and learn the conditions of His wonderful pardon?
