Who Do You Fear?
Wednesday, September 14, 2011 • Posted September 15, 2011

Ezekiel 2:6 “Son of man, do not fear them or their words. Don’t be afraid even though their threats surround you like nettles and briers and stinging scorpions. Do not be dismayed by their dark scowls, even though they are rebels.”

Whom do you fear? Some people live in fear daily and make decisions based on that fear; and are actually being controlled by others through the evil spirit of fear which walks hand in hand with the evil spirits of deceit, manipulation, jealousy, control, and intimidation. Jesus said “28And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:20)

Isaiah 35:4 "Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, and do not fear; for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you."

Deuteronomy 10:12 [ A Call to Love and Obedience ] “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul.”

This coming Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 11:30 am, Mt. Horeb Baptist Church (on Peyton Colony Rd. in Blanco, Texas) is holding a special church service, conducted entirely by women, and we’d like to invite men, women and children of all ages to come join us in worship and praise to our heavenly Father. Our theme is “deliverance” and “freedom” which includes all types of bondage and/or strongholds that may be controlling your life. We request your prayers that you be in agreement with me in pleading the blood of Jesus over this invitation and all reading it, and the entire service on Sunday from beginning to end, and upon everyone attending, that the Spirit of God move in our hearts, minds, soul and spirits, freeing all of us from strongholds and bondages; and that His perfect love fill us and go home with us, to improve our lives and increase our knowledge of God’s Word, thereby strengthening us through God’s Spirit within us. Send me your prayer requests (if you can’t come) call us at (830) 833-4183, and we will include them in our special prayer time altar call. We will enjoy lunch afterwards, so if you can come and would like to bring a dish, bring a salad or dessert to go along with the chicken salad sandwiches that I plan to prepare, if the Lord is willing. It is our second annual Women’s Day Service and our guest speaker will be Minister Linda Wade (she did the service last year, and we were all radically blessed!) Sunday School begins at 10:15 am.

A Call for Wholehearted Commitment

Deuteronomy 6:1-7 “These are the commands, decrees, and regulations that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you. You must obey them in the land you are about to enter and occupy, 2 and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the Lord your God as long as you live. If you obey all his decrees and commands, you will enjoy a long life. 3 Listen closely, Israel, and be careful to obey. Then all will go well with you, and you will have many children in the land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you.

4 “Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. 5 And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. 6 And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. 7 Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”

Leviticus 25:17 “Ye shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the LORD your God.”

Malachi 3:5 “At that time I will put you on trial. I am eager to witness against all sorcerers and adulterers and liars. I will speak against those who cheat employees of their wages, who oppress widows and orphans, or who deprive the foreigners living among you of justice, for these people do not fear me,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”

Ecclesiastes 8:13 “The wicked will not prosper, for they do not fear God. Their days will never grow long like the evening shadows.”

Psalm 55:19 “God, who has ruled forever, will hear me and humble them. For my enemies refuse to change their ways; they do not fear God.”

These last two will keep us always if we can memorize them! LORD, bring these to our remembrance, always!

Isaiah 54:17 “17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”

Psalm 112:7 “They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.”

Personalize them and speak aloud: “It is written in God’s Word that no weapon formed against me shall prosper and every tongue that rises against me God shall condemn in judgment, and I do not fear bad news, for I place my confidence and trust in God to care for me and my seed for 1,000 generations, in Jesus’ name!” Amen
