On Friday, September 16, the Blanco Senior Center hosted an open house and exhibited the paintings that were completed by the senior artists during the past six months. The class has grown to over twenty artists, which paint on oils, acrylics and watercolor mediums. Ms. Olga R. Ibarra is a wonderful painting teacher and several members of our community have rekindled a desire to learn to paint, or fine-tuned their techniques. Members include: Pat Hendricks, Shirley Ferk, Harriet Campbell, Pete Garcia, Alice Meyer, Frances Dickey, Loretta Webster, Evelyn Heckel, Betty Dugelby, Pat Percival, David Cech, Sue McFarlin, Leada Friar, Liz Waller-Broyal, Liz Begay, Lynn Snow, Kathy Perkins, Kim Leifeste Garza, and Peggy Wright.
The open house drew several visitors who were treated with a variety of wonderful foods provided by the artists. New friends were made and old friends got to visit. This was a great ending to the Blanco Senior Center painting class, as the building which housed the activities has been sold. The painting class will meet at the Blanco Library on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 12:30pm. The Blanco Senior Activity Center is temporarily moving to the Trinity Lutheran Church and will be meeting Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9:00am to 1:30pm. Please stop by and visit us at our new location. Lunch will be served at 11:30 and you are welcome to come early and play cards or dominoes with us.
