Alta Foster celebrated her 100th birthday at the Gem of the Hills with friends and her bridge partners. She was born in New Albany, Indiana, but grew up in Wisconsin. While teaching English in the military, she met her husband, Bill, in Japan. They lived overseas while he served as a pilot in the military. They moved to Texas in 1951 and bought land in Blanco in 1976. After retirement in 1990, they moved permanently to Blanco. Alta now lives in New Braunfels at the Rio Terra.
