Blanco Performing Arts Announces Second Season
Wednesday, September 21, 2011 • Posted September 22, 2011

In the mood for a refreshing reprieve from summer’s sizzle? Blanco Performing Arts offers a refreshing release with its second season of high caliber entertainment.

On October 8, 2011, the chamber music series hits the ground running with the Artisan Quartet, which offers the great works of string quartet literature; the program will feature works by Beethoven, Grieg, and Roberto Sierra. Some of this programming will be included in the quartet’s Carnegie Hall performance in March 2012. Four world class professionals make up the Artisan Quartet: Richard Kilmer and Paula E. Bird (violins), Bruce Williams (viola), and Douglas Harvey (cello).

On February 4, 2012, Cellist Joel Becktell and pianist Carla McElhaney of the classical band Revel cultivate the works of Popper, de Falla, Piazzolia, and Rachmanioff into a living art form, relevant to our modern day.

On March 10, 2012, Argentinean Victoria Luperi, principal clarinetist with the Fort Worth Symphony, Eduardo Rojas of the Colombian and Latin American pianistic movement, and Keira Fullerton, assistant principal cellist with FWS, achieve highest artistic expectations with Fantasia La Traviata for Clarinet and Piano as well as with Beethoven’s Trio for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano.

On Sunday, June 24, 2012, acclaimed Julia Pautz of the San Diego Symphony returns to her hometown of Blanco with some special friends to conclude this year’s concert series. The Dallas Morning News called her a “true virtuoso” whose performance of “ fleet skitters, double stops, and flawless darting” promises to bring joy and awe to the audience.

To avoid an excruciating decision of which concert to attend, BPA offers money saving season tickets for all four concerts for $105 for adults, and $65 for those 18 and younger. For ticket information and purchasing, please visit or call 839-833 4672. All concerts are at 7 p.m. with the Sunday concert at 3 p.m. and are presented in the resonant, elegant Uptown Blanco Ballroom whose balconies afford some of the finest views of downtown Blanco. BPA appreciates your enthusiasm as evidenced by previous sold-out performances and by your kind comments and looks forward to your participation in the new ambitious season.
