Schaeferkoeter Reunion

The family of William and Eliza Cloudt Schaeferkoeter held their 34th annual reunion on the 25th of September 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Blanco.

Seventy-five family members and guest enjoyed a delicious covered dish lunch. Charlie Moore (son of the late Cora Blackburn Moore, daughter of Emma Schaeferkoeter Blackburn) fried cat fish and potatoes (your choice Irish or sweet). David Blackburn (son of Bill Blackburn, son of Emma Schaeferkoeter Blackburn) led in prayer before the noon meal.

After feasting and fellowshipping, a short business meeting was held by James Blackburn (son of the late Bill Blackburn, son of Emma Schaeferkoeter Blackburn). Crystal Tillman (daughter of Walter Blackburn, son of the late Bill Blackburn, son of Emma Schaeferkoeter Blackburn) recorded a report of the event.

A silent prayer was offered for family member who had passed away during the year: Nelda Waxler Haas (daughter of the late Ida Schaeferkoeter Waxler), Freda Pehl and Norma Kunz (daughters of the late Harry Schaeferkoeter).

Attendees and guests were categorized by family as follows:

Emma, 32; Fred, 10; Ida, 9; Thekla, 8; Harry, 6; Monroe, 3; Guest, 7.

Recognitions were presented with small cash prizes as follows:

Oldest person present: Arvin Weber (son of Thekla Schaeferkoeter Weber), 88 years;

Youngest person present-Rhema Rhea Mikolajczyk (daughter of Melissa Blackburn Mikolajczyk, daughter of James Blackburn, son of Bill Blackburn son of Emma Schaeferkoeter Blackburn, one month;

Longest married shared by Fred and Helen Schaeferkoeter (son of Fred Schaeferkoeter) and Francis and Gertrude Hartmann (daughter of Thekla Schaeferkoeter Weber), both married April 65 years ago;

Newlyweds were Kellie and Ronnie Kastner (daughter of Mike Haas, son of the late Nelda Waxler Haas, daughter of the late Ida Schaeferkoeter Waxler);

Traveling the furthest: Justin and Amie Slevin (son and daughter of Stephen Slevin, son of Joyce Blackburn Bettinger, daughter of the late Bill Blackburn, son of Emma Schaeferkoeter Blackburn).

The families of Monroe Schaeferkoeter will be in charge of arrangements for the coming year’s reunion. Make plans to bring your pictures to share and a set of dominoes to play if you feel competitive.
